Let’s show them our support!

Ways we support the Wattsburg Area School District:

Scholarships

The WASD Foundation provides High School Seniors with an opportunity for scholarship funds. We offer one towards a student going into college and one for a student entering the trades. Scholarships may vary depending on the generosity of donors, but typically run at $200 or more.

Mini-Grants for Teachers

The WASD Foundation offers Teacher Mini-Grants for one teacher in each of the schools (High School, Middle School and Elementary). These Mini-Grants can be used for any classroom expense, programming, books or other educational endeavors. Applications open at the beginning of the school year.

Nonprofit Benefits

The Foundation can benefit the district by:

  • Tax Exemption – Nonprofit organizations are exempt from federal and state corporate taxes. Further, in some states and some types of organization may be exempt from sales taxes and property taxes

  • Legitimacy and Credibility – Being recognized by and accountable to the IRS as a 501c3 will lend to a nonprofit organization being more official and credible in the eyes of the public and other entities who lend funds

  • Deductibility of Donations – Individual and corporate donors will be able to deduct their donations from their personal and corporate taxes

  • Grant Eligibility – Foundations, corporations and government grants nearly exclusively require nonprofits to be 501c3’s in order to receive grants or donations

Special Requests

The Foundation will also take into consideration any special requests from students who are looking for projects on campus. Additionally, the Foundation applies for grants to complete projects on campus to benefit the community and transfer financial accountability off the taxpayers
